ITALY EARTHQUAKE : Historic Towns Damaged


April 6, 2009--Villagers in Onna, central Italy, gather after a roughly magnitude 6 earthquake struck on Monday, April 6, 2009.

The Italian earthquake knocked down whole blocks of buildings early Monday as residents slept, killing more than 130 people--making it the country's deadliest quake in nearly three decades, officials said.

Tens of thousands are homeless and 1,500 are injured.
